Nowadays, people are interested in finding new ways to cleanse and detoxify themselves. This leads to the rise in popularity of coffee enemas. This process is definitely one you can do yourself, but it is not as easy as it sometimes sounds. This definitely should not turn you off from trying it though.
The four smart tips below will assist you in giving yourself a coffee enema, allowing the procedure to be successful enough that you will want to do it on a regular basis.
1. Not too hot
Coffee enemas involve inserting coffee directly into your colon. Therefore, it only stands to reason that you would not want it being too hot. However, some people do give themselves coffee enemas and the coffee is too hot, resulting in serious burns to the inside of their colons that require medical attention.
When making coffee for your enema, ensure it is the correct temperature. As mentioned, coffee too hot can result in serious injury. Coffee too cold will not allow you to hold it in your colon for as long as it takes to cleanse it. After making the coffee, consider putting a few ice cubes into it. This will allow it to cool enough for insertion but not to the point where it is rendered ineffective.
When it comes to coffee enemas, the position in which you should be in when doing it is up for debate. However, the good news is that there are no real drawbacks to any of the positions recommended so you can do what is easiest for you.
There are a few different positions that people use when giving themselves coffee enemas. Probably the most popular is the person laying flat on his/her back. This position is considered the most relaxing and it allows you to elevate your hips which causes the coffee to flow through your body and hits all areas of the colon that need to be cleaned the most.
Some people choose to lay on their right side. This allows the coffee to travel up the colon to the liver and gallbladder.
3. Making the coffee
There are many methods used when making the coffee to be used for an enema. However, you want to make sure the one you use will be the most beneficial and the first question people have when they want to look at receiving coffee enemas is “how do I prepare it?”.
The best way to prepare coffee for an enema is boiling a little less than one liter of water. Use a stainless steel pot as these are sanitary and the coffee will not pick up anything that could make you ill after the procedure. Also, do not use water that has chlorine in it as this will get rid of the good bacteria your body needs to be healthy.
Add about 2 tablespoons of organic, ground coffee. After it brews, pour it through a sieve into a vessel where you can then add ice cubes to achieve the perfect temperature.
When it comes to the process of inserting the coffee into your colon, there are three popular ways to do so and all are effective in allowing the coffee to pass through easily: enema bags, syringes, and disposable enema kits.
Enema bags are plastic containers complete with clamps and a nozzle. Coffee is filled into the bag and clamped to keep any air out. The nozzle is inserted into the rectum and the clamp is removed from the bag to allow the coffee to flow. Syringes consist of a tube attached to a bulb. You insert the tube into the coffee and pump the bulb with your hand. The bulb holds the coffee and once the tube is inserted, you squeeze the bulb and the coffee passes into the rectum.
Disposable kits are plastic, squeezable bottles with a nozzle attached. The nozzle is inserted into the rectum and the bottle is squeezed to release the coffee. With all methods, the coffee should be retained for about 12 to 15 minutes before you should attempt to void your bowels.
